Miles joined our team in North America about 6 months ago. He had always wanted to work in the IT industry and gladly accepted the role of Project Coordinator.

Time to check how he has experienced his journey so far.

Curious about his story? Then be sure to read on!

Miles, thank you for taking the time to chat with us today. Can you share with us how you came across Itineris, and what influenced your decision to choose our company?

Sure! I was contacted by Dana, Itineris’ Talent Acquisition Partner, through LinkedIn. She told me about the company and Itineris’ software solutions for utilities, which seemed very appealing to me. I accepted the invitation for a job interview, which turned out to be an engaging conversation rather than a traditional question-and-answer session. I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the interviewers – Elien, Melanie & Gib. That left me with a very good first impression of the company.

Great to hear that! And so we welcomed you to our North America team. Were you satisfied with the guidance you received during your initial months here?

Absolutely! I believe the way Itineris supports new employees is just great. The onboarding process was very structured and well organized. On my first day, Grace, Itineris’ HR Director, provided me with a clear overview of online trainings and things I could do in my first month to get up to speed. She also introduced me to a number of colleagues she felt I should meet.

“Itineris has a volunteer group called Diablo, which regularly plans events to foster a sense of community among employees. Along with 25 co-workers, we recently painted the outside of a home in south Atlanta. The homeowner was incredibly grateful for our efforts. That was a really enjoyable and fun experience.”

Could you also tell us a bit more about how you experienced the company culture?

When I started, I came into the office almost every day. That gave me the opportunity to meet an interact with a variety of colleagues in a short amount of time. The atmosphere in the office is very friendly and informal, which I like very much.

Currently, I work in the office two days a week and have a hybrid schedule that allows me to work remotely as well. For me, that’s like the best of both worlds: the ability to work from home (and avoid traffic jams 😉), and also the opportunity to socialize with my colleagues in the office, which helps to strengthen our team bonding.

Does Itineris also organize activities to encourage team building?

Yes, they certainly do! Itineris has a volunteer group called Diablo, which regularly plans events to foster a sense of community among employees. Recently, I joined an event in support of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers to build affordable homes for low-income people. Along with 25 co-workers, we painted the outside of a home in south Atlanta. The homeowner was incredibly grateful for our efforts. That was a really enjoyable and fun experience.

During his free time, Miles is an active individual who enjoys participating in a variety of activities. He engages in sports such as basketball, tennis, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu and regularly exercises during the week. Additionally, he is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys embarking on adventure travels. A few years ago, he has completed an impressive two-month overland trip in Africa, riding his motorcycle from South Africa to Kenya and back. Quite impressive if you ask us!

Sounds great! Could you tell us a bit more about how a typical working day looks like for you?

In my role as Project Coordinator, I am currently working on four different projects. My main duties include assisting Project Managers and Directors in organizing, overseeing, and monitoring various templates such as workshop schedules and risk registers. Additionally, I generate reports to track key operational metrics like project budgets and man-days.

What do you like most about your job?

What I appreciate most, is the level of autonomy and flexibility I have in planning my work. That allows me to make my own schedule. I also like to be challenged, and that’s certainly the case here. I am learning new things every day.

We’re glad to hear that, Miles! As a final question, do you have any advice for recent graduates searching for their first job?

My advice, based on my personal experience, would be to remember that your first job is significant, but not the most critical thing in the world. It’s essential to build a solid foundation by giving 100% effort in everything you do and never giving up. My previous two work experiences also brought me to where I am today. With dedication and hard work, you will find a job that aligns with your objectives and abilities.

Thanks a lot for your advice and for your time Miles!
