Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has chosen Itineris to replace its aging enterprise resource planning and customer information systems.

The project will move the Authority’s core business functions—ranging from customer service and billing to financials, HR and more—onto Microsoft’s cutting-edge Dynamics 365® enterprise platform, running in the cloud. Itineris’ UMAX CIS solution, built on the Dynamics 365 platform, will provide feature-rich customer service functions.

Modernizing these critical software systems with cloud-based UMAX and Dynamics 365 will deliver the capabilities to:

  • Enhance customer engagement across a wide range of devices and channels
  • Increase operational efficiency through non-siloed applications with a common data model
  • Ensure business-critical systems can support evolving needs for years to come through a flexible, extensible and cloud-based platform

The Platform

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is the next generation of intelligent business applications that unify CRM and ERP capabilities and work seamlessly together with the full ecosystem of Microsoft technologies, from Office 365 to PowerBI.

The Authority has chosen to deploy these systems in the cloud, running on Microsoft Azure. The benefits will include streamlined and cost-efficient maintenance and support, greater data security and increased flexibility in configuring systems to support its operational needs.

UMAX will simplify and strengthen integrations with other mission-critical systems, providing faster, more reliable data movement throughout the Authority’s departments, greater flexibility in adapting processes to future business and customer care needs, new reporting and business intelligence capabilities, and an enhanced user experience for Authority employees.

These fully integrated systems will also enable the Authority to leverage other Microsoft technology investments it has in place.

The Project

Itineris and its UMAX CIS/ERP solution were selected by the Authority after a thorough request for proposals process, in which the Authority sought an integrated CIS and ERP solution that would “promote exceptional levels of service to both internal users and external customers, as well as provide the technical foundation to ensure long-term effectiveness and efficiency.”

“We are very pleased to partner with the Authority to modernize its technology, streamline its operations and provide better service to its customers,” noted Burrell Kilmer, Itineris president for UMAX North America, “our UMAX solution, together with Dynamics 365, will enable the Authority to transform its business operations based on a flexible, industry-leading technology platform.”
