Senior R&D tester
Scope of the role
As a Senior R&D Tester, you play a key role in safeguarding the quality of our UMAX products and solutions before they go live. You translate complex requirements into well‑designed test scenarios, prepare and execute system and integration tests, and ensure every deliverable meets our internal quality standards. Acting as a quality expert within the team, you identify risks early, advise on test strategy and coverage, automate regression tests, and collaborate closely with functional and technical consultants. You document your work clearly, coach junior testers, and help drive a culture of excellence throughout the development lifecycle.
You will work in the EU time zones as part of a multi-disciplinary Product Development team focusing on delivering value to our European
customers.

Primary duties and responsibilities
- Analyze functional requirements, supporting documents, and functional design documents.
- Evaluate and estimate the required testing effort, and provide informed risk-based recommendations on test approach and coverage.
- Design test scenarios and test cases according to the Itineris standards, and execute them.
- Report on test progress, log defects accurately, and communicate effectively with technical consultants.
- Automate regression test cases in Leapwork, our no code test automation tooling.
- Serve as a quality expert for functional and technical consultants and project managers.
- Apply your expertise to highlight risks early and align test planning with timelines and budgets.
- Support junior testers by sharing best practices, peer reviews, and proactive coaching.
- Document your work in a structured and transparent way.
Experience and qualifications - Certifications
- At least 5 years of experience with system and integration testing, either in an external consultative (project) setting, or in an internal R&D development testing setting.
- Bachelor's or master's degree, ideally in an IT related domain.
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or another test methodology - Mandatory.

- Have a strong interest in understanding customers’ business processes (functional knowledge).
- Ability to absorb & analyze big chunks of information and master complex business logic/rules.
- Solid understanding of non-functional quality aspects (performance, security, data integrity, usability) and the ability to incorporate them into test design and planning.
- Well‑versed in the Defect/Bug Life Cycle and able to apply it effectively in day‑to‑day testing activities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary software development team (functional analyst – developer – tester).
- Anticipate and proactively communicate towards transparent alignment with team members.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- High level of self‑directed learning capability, thriving amid complexity and an evolving context.
Good to have skills
- Experience with no code test automation tools like Leapwork.
- Experience with Azure DevOps (Test Plans and Boards modules) or equivalent.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Experience with testing an ERP/CIS system.
- Experience with the Utility (Energy) sector.
